Photo editor & image toolkit
Bring out what you saw. A free photo studio, right in your browser.
Lumina is a free photo editing studio that runs on your device. Develop light and color, try creative looks, crop and rotate, add text and watermarks, and export a finished image without uploading your photo; editable projects and browser autosave keep your work together. Photo Lab adds collages, contact sheets, image joining, animated GIFs, batch exports and image splitting. Tone Lab adds RGB curves, levels, neutral white balance, clipping warnings and reusable processing profiles. Design Layers combines images, text and shapes with transforms, blend modes and reversible masks.

Features
Find your light
Exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows bring balance to your photo, with luminance and RGB histograms, levels, gamma and editable five-point tone curves.
Color with intention
Temperature, tint, saturation and vibrance give you direct control over the mood. Sample a neutral patch for linear-light white balance.
Six starting points
Original, Daylight, Golden hour, Cinematic, Silver and Soft light are editable looks, not permanent filters.
A stronger frame
Use common aspect ratios or a custom crop, then rotate and flip. The original stays untouched.
The finishing details
Classic sharpening, edge-aware smoothing, fade and vignette. Deterministic processing without AI models.
Leave your mark
Add, position and duplicate text layers for captions, signatures and watermarks. Set color, size and opacity.
See the difference
Slide between the original and edited photo. Inspect shadow and highlight clipping without affecting exports; undo and redo your changes.
Keep your originals
Projects autosave on this device. Download an editable project, or save a settings-only processing profile to reuse in Photo Lab batch exports.
Ready for wherever
Export JPEG, PNG or WebP at a chosen size and quality, or print using your browser.
A useful little toolkit
Plan crops, resize dimensions and print sizes, analyze color contrast, or open the existing compression and batch image tools.
Photo Lab: better together
Arrange photos into collages and contact sheets, join them horizontally or vertically, and control their order, spacing, fit and captions.
One look, a whole collection
Capture a look and text layers, resize and convert a photo set locally, or slice one image into numbered tiles. Download the results in one ZIP.
Photos in motion
Turn an ordered photo set into an animated GIF with frame timing and looping. Save editable Photo Lab projects and restore a local draft.
Build a composition
Design Layers combines images, text, rectangles and ellipses on a custom canvas. Reorder, lock, hide and duplicate layers.
Place every element
Move, resize, rotate and flip layers with canvas handles or exact numeric controls. Eight blend modes and opacity control the result.
Hide without deleting
Rectangle and ellipse masks add inward feathering. Paint Hide or Reveal strokes, invert or disable the mask, and keep the original pixels.
Templates
Start from a ready-made project and change it to fit.
Measured light
Shape the alpine photo with a gentle tone curve, then save a reusable profile.
Daylight
Try the Daylight look on the sample photo, then make it your own.
Golden hour
Try the Golden hour look on the sample photo, then make it your own.
Cinematic
Try the Cinematic look on the sample photo, then make it your own.
Silver
Try the Silver look on the sample photo, then make it your own.

Frequently asked questions
Can I reuse a Tone Lab edit?
Save a .lumina-profile.json file containing Develop controls, levels, RGB curves and white-balance gains, without photos, crop or text. Import it in Tone Lab or the main Open button. Photo Lab captures these settings for batch export. Camera PP3 and ICC profiles are not supported.
Does my photo leave my device?
The editor processes images locally and stores projects in this browser. The separate file utilities linked from Tools may upload files to the usefulweb.site server; they say so before you use them.
Is this a RAW developer or an AI photo editor?
Lumina works on browser-decodable images using display-referred sRGB adjustments and classic filters. It does not develop RAW files, replace skies, select subjects automatically or run AI restoration. Use the existing HEIC & RAW converter before opening those formats.
How do I keep an editable copy?
Use Save project to download a .lumina.json file containing your source photo, adjustment settings, crop and text layers. Photo Lab saves a separate .lumina-lab.json file with its photos, layout and captured batch look. Design Layers saves .lumina-design.json compositions; its schema is /static/apps/lumina/design.schema.json. Browser autosave is convenient, but browser storage can be cleared or evicted.
What happens to metadata?
Image exports are encoded from a canvas, so original EXIF and GPS metadata is not copied. Design project files keep the imported image bytes and may retain their metadata. Color processing uses the browser sRGB canvas pipeline; exported images do not preserve embedded profiles.
Can AI agents use the related tools?
Yes. The eleven companion tools cover resize and print planning, color analysis, photo layouts, image splitting, animated GIFs, layer transforms, blend colors, transparent shape masks, histogram analysis and tone-profile processing through HTML pages, JSON API and MCP. File-processing tools upload photos to the server.
Limitations
What Lumina does not do (yet):
- Maximum 30 MB per photo and 16 megapixels after decoding; single-photo .lumina.json imports are limited to 60 MB.
- sRGB display editing only; no RAW development, HDR, ICC soft proofing or professional print color management.
- The photo editor uses text layers. Photo Lab adds layouts; Design Layers adds transforms, blend modes and geometric or brush masks. No PSD import, smart objects, healing or AI subject detection.
- Noise smoothing and sharpening are classic local filters, not learned restoration.
- GIF import uses one frame; animation is not preserved. AVIF import depends on browser support.
- Photo Lab: up to 24 photos, 32 MP decoded in total, 16 MP output and approximately 60 MB of embedded sources. GIF output uses a fixed 256-color palette and at most 12 million total frame pixels.
- Design Layers: 24 layers, eight image layers, 4 MP canvas and image limit, 24 MP of uniquely decoded images, 12 MB embedded source budget and 12000 brush points. No perspective warp or arbitrary vector paths.
- Browser projects stay on this device; save a project file for a durable backup.
